the vineyards
The interaction with vines and the land on which they grow has changed me.
First, when I am walking through the vines at sunrise and the fog blankets the dewy grapes, I wish that every person I have ever known was with me in that moment.
Second, watching hail, turkey, and deer take away the fruit you’ve bled, sweat, & fought so hard for is a helplessness that is new to me.
Third, observing the visceral magic of earth supporting a vineyard in ways I will never fully understand is something that I contemplate every day of my life. Fascinating!
These are the vineyards that I have worked on in the past and will be developing for the future:

I spent 2021 - 2024 learning viticulture at Addison Farms Vineyard, a 4th generation family farm that originally started in 1937. Addison Farmer began a tobacco farm that eventually turned into a 6 acre vineyard in Leicester, NC. Here,Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese, Petit Verdo, & Petit Manseng were grown.
In 2024, we sampled soil with a geologist, brought on the advice of a viticulturist, and ordered Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Montepulciano, Vermentino, Traminette, Aravelle, & Petit Manseng for a 20 acre vineyard that will be planted 2025 in Marion, NC . More details coming soon, but this will be taking much of my time for the foreseeable future!
